Our mission

RAPRI is an independent research institute advancing rigorous, policy-relevant knowledge on peace, security, governance, political economy and geopolitical change across the Horn of Africa and East Africa, examining the region's interconnected dynamics with the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and wider Indian Ocean. Operating at the unique strategic intersection of Somalia, the wider Horn, and its vital maritime axes, RAPRI provides global policymakers with the analytical architecture required to navigate a rapidly unifying geopolitical space.

How we work

Independence

Findings are published as the evidence lands. No funder, ministry or partner reviews a conclusion before release.

Rigour

Mixed-method design, documented sampling, and internal peer review before any publication leaves the institute.

Proximity

Research is designed and carried out by Somali and regional researchers working in the communities they study.

Openness

Datasets, methods notes and full-text publications are released free of charge under clear licences.
