Programme 05

Regional Integration and Geoeconomics

The East and Horn of Africa are increasingly exposed to global economic developments through trade, energy, transport, finance and strategic infrastructure.

The East and Horn of Africa are increasingly exposed to global economic developments through trade, energy, transport, finance and strategic infrastructure. External shocks can affect domestic prices, public finances and livelihoods, often compounding existing vulnerabilities. RAAD examines regional integration, energy markets, maritime trade, transport corridors, infrastructure, international finance and the political economy of economic cooperation. The programme traces how external disruptions become domestic pressures and assesses the conditions under which regional cooperation and economic policy can strengthen resilience and strategic autonomy.
